We called today a restful day! The kids were overly tired and slept late today. So we just took it easy. Around 3:00 we went to the grocery. It always take forever, but the kids got their cookie. That is all that matters to them. Kroger had ketchup on sale 10 for $10. That is great for us since we use a bottle a meal just about.

When we got home the kids painted in the bathtub. As you can see from the picture I taped a big piece of paper on the wall and let them paint on it. It took longer to get everything out then it did for them to paint. They had fun. This was our school today. Caroline is upset because we haven't done worksheets for a few days.

Doug came over for game night. The guys have such a good time spending time together. They were singing songs they used to sing on the way to school tonight. I laughed so hard I cried.

Aunt Mel...I told the kids you were home last night when I got your message and they wanted to come to your house and see you then. Nick cried the rest of the way home because I told him we couldn't. Isn't that sweet. They miss you! and Riley!

Aunt Carol, Granny told us about Chris. Tell him we are thinking about him. Call us tomorrow and let us know how his test went and if he has to have surgery.

That is all for today. More tomorrow.

It was another eventful day at the Potts' house. Allie is safe and sound in her cage. Very happy again. I odn't think she liked being out and about. The kids started their day with Daddy making them eggs. Which they put ketchup on, of course. Then it was time to clean house. Daddy helped and we got it all done in one day. Whoo hoo! He also worked on the toilet.

It was warm out so I sent the kids outside to play for awhile. Nick thought it would be a good idea to go down the slide backwards. I pushed Caroline and Caroline baby in the swing. We headed back in to check on Daddy (he was a little frustrated with the toilet). Nick went one way Caroline decided to have some alone time in her room. I love watching her learn on her leapad.

After the cleaning was over we went to Grandma and Grandpa's for dinner. We have a busy week so everyone went to bed early.
quick post...at 5:07 am I heard Allie run down the hallway then into our bathroom. I quickly woke John for about the 4th time and said I think Allie is in our bathroom. Sure enough she was there. So everyone can rest now (especially me...I listened for her all night.) the hamster is safely back in her cage. The kids can expect a long lecture on her when they get up. Now, I'm going to get some sleep.

Well, it has been a very interesting day. "ALLIE" the family hamster is on the loose!!!! I don't know what we are going to do.

Today John and Nick did some yard work. Raking leaves. Caroline stayed in the backyard swinging. Then we headed off to the tennis courts to practice. Nick and Caroline were our ball boy and girl. John hit the ball and ended up popping Caroline in the head. She gave him that "Caroline" look. Then Nick was holding the net and we hit is hand. I tried to explain to them they had to stay off the court. They were more interested in chasing the balls though.

We went to eat with Doug tonight. We went to Ruby Tuesday's. Now we are getting ready to watch a movie. Hope everyone had a good day!

BOOK CLUB!!!!!!!!! It is Friday and Book club night. I have always wanted to be involved in a book club. Now I am! It was a wonderful meeting tonight. Lots of fun ladies. And good book selections. All $5 or under. How about that. I know Mel will be very proud of me for that.

The kids got to go to Grandma and Grandpa's today and play with Jennifer. It was a nice break. Then they got to spend the evening with Dad. When they all got home John 'HELPED" Caroline clean up her room. If that is what you want to call it. Tomorrow is serious cleaning day, but we have not had anymore food in the rooms and she has done pretty good keeping it picked up. She gets Caroline Baby back Saturday. She is looking forward to that and keeps asking me when she gets her. Tomorrow (saturday) is doughnut day! The kids always look forward to that.

More tomorrow! I hope everyone has a good weekend. John, Doug and me are going to L'burg for karaoke Saturday night. I'm sure that will be fun. We are still trying to talk John into singing. Not sure if that will happen.

This is Caroline doing school work. It is a number book she is making.

John is teaching Nick how to salute. He is trying so hard to get it right. Isn't that cute?

The picture at the top of Nick is him watching Caroline and John cleaning up her room. He's a lot of help isn't he?

Not much going on here. We started our morning by taking Caroline to dance. Nick has decided not to dance anymore, and I haven't been able to talk him back into it. This picture is the last time he danced. It was parent day. Don't they both look so cute? She has become more social since Nick stopped. And has started dancing all the time. Before they just stood and talked or looked at each other......Crazy I know! He is enjoying his special time with me. Nick and I ran errands while Caroline was at dance. Then it was home for a nap, because mommy still has cold/flu whatever this stuff is and it is bad. Then we got up and put all my materials together for my scrapbook class that started tonight. It went well. I have 6 ladies, and they are all talkers. It should be fun. Nick took his spa bath tonight and got an application of special lotion from Daddy. I wish you guys could see the difference in his skin. It is awesome. If you have any problems with your skin I recommend Beauty control and can give you info on a rep. (My special DeeDee sells it) Just let me know if you would like to try any of the products and we can set you up with her.

Mel and dd can you believe clijsters has to retire? It is so sad. I was pulling for her. Looking forward to the finals this weekend. That is all for today. More tomorrow.

One more update...The room is still clean! Yeah! She gets Caroline Baby back on saturday. She is looking forward to it! She has missed her a lot. Sort of made me feel bad until I thought about the tuna! Then I was ok with it.

Wednesday, January 25, 2006

Ok, here is our second post for today. After several confrontations, a bucket of tuna (yes I said a bucket of tuna), open applesauce, trail mix, chips, 15 forks and spoons, and several used pull-ups we have a clean room. Her punishment is she lost Caroline Baby for 3 days. She is not very happy about that, but I explained consequences to her.

I am working on information for my scrapbook class that starts tomorrow. John and I are getting ready to watch Fever Pitch. That is about all from the Potts' house.

Before After
The after is also after the kids played in it the rest of the day!

Good morning! Sorry for no post yesterday. Caroline and I are sick AGAIN!!!!! I think someone needs to fumagate (not sure how to spell that) the house. So, this is what is going on this morning! while I was in the shower the kids were having a part on "Ginkgi party blanket". Nick calls his favorite blanket Ginkgi and Caroline added the party blanket part. Isn't that cute. Now they are cleaning Caroline's room. It will probably take all day. As you can see from the picture she lives in a pig mess as John calls it. Hopefully I will be able to post a pic of a clean room this afternoon!

Mel...I was up at 2:30 and watched Hingis get beat. It was a good match so if you get a chance to watch the replay I would. I'll post more tonight.

This is Caroline laying in the bed because she wasn't feeling good. While she was laying down Nick was outside.
Tennis...tennis...tennis! I played tennis this morning with the team I will be playing with in August. I am so excited. Jose told me I had great fundamentals & techniques I just need to work on consistency. I will be practicing with them on Monday and Friday mornings. I also signed Nick and Caroline up for the mighty mites tennis clinic today. We headed over to the L'ville tennis club and got rackets for them. They start on Feb. 13 and are very excited.

We got up at 7:00 this morning...huh! Caroline had the hardest time. When we got home she took a nap...all by herself. It was fairly nice out this afternoon so Nick went out to play with his new racket. I think he has a good swing. The pics are great I think.

When Daddy got home we ate dinner and went for a walk. My goal is to loose 20lbs by August when I start playing on tennis team. After our walk Doug game over and we had game night. This is going to be a weekly event now. We played scene it...Doug won!

Hope everyone had a great Sunday. We all slept late today because we had a long night last night. The kids stayed with Helen and Dave last night while John, Doug and I went to L'burg. We listened to a live band and celebrated my aunt's birthday. He had a good time, but everyone was sleepy today. After we got up we hung around the house for a while then we tried to go play tennis. As soon as everyone got dressed it started to rain. John said "it doesn't look like much. Let's go ahead and try." As we were getting in the car the rain started to pour but in our best optimistic attitude we drove to the tennis courts anyway. It continued to rain, rain, rain, rain, and is still raining. So we headed back home. Nick rode his bike in the garage for a little while, Caroline headed off to watch Dora, and I worked on lesson plans for my up coming scrapbook class.

We did some school today. Caroline did great on dot to dot and counting. Nick did some tracing and counting as well. Church called this afternoon to see if I could sub tonight, so I said yes. Helen and Dave came over tonight to watch football, the kids played and enjoyed their company and I headed off to church. When I got home I visited with them and now I'm blogging. Exciting day!

Caroline is writing with these cool crayons we found that you use in the bathtub. Isn't that neat?

Sorry, I'm late getting the blog done. I was at church longer than I thought I would be last night. And things are just crazy as always around here. Hey, Mom does this pic of Nick look familiar? This tractor was my tractor when I was little and I would ride it on the hill in Berea at my great-grandparents house. Boy are those old memories. The pic of Caroline was one she wanted me to take of her caring for her baby. Remember she is a little mom.

Yesterday morning I played tennis (yeah, my first day back in a few months). I did great and we start practice on monday for a team I will be playing on in August. I am very excited about that. We have been watching a lot of tennis on tv. The Australian open is on right now. Then we headed to Walmart and Dee's to look for supplies to make John's anniversary present. Today (saturday) is our anniversary and we have been married 5 years. We have always exchanged traditional gifts and this year is wood. What fun. So we decided to get creative and do something under $10 that is not a picture frame. So needless to say I had my idea all in my head, but had a little trouble finding the supplies. After two stops we found what I needed and headed home. It was such a nice day the kids headed out to play and started work on the anniversary project. Nick threw the ball over the fence on the nice neighbors side and when I put him over the fence to get the ball he started trying to make baskets. Of course then Caroline had to try. So here are pics of them trying. Nick got several in...who know maybe we are looking at a future UK players. Wouldn't you all enjoy that.

Here is a pic of our anniversary gifts. John got me this basket (I know Miss Judy don't have a heartattack, but you can't get a longaberger for under $10) and 2 dish towels and I made the shadow box. The #5 is wood and I painted it. I know....I am so creative. Anyway isn't that cute.

Sorry our post was late, just a lot going on. Hope everyone is good and enjoying the blog.

Hello everyone. Today we had dance class. Caroline and Nick have been going since Aug. Nick has now decided he doesn't want to go anymore. Today was the first day I didn't make him go. He has been saying for a few weeks he didn't want to anymore, but I was hoping he would change his mind. But he hasn't. We dropped Caroline off at dance and headed to the grocery. I thought that might be kind of boring for him without her, but on the way home he said "Mommy I want to do this everyday." I said what everyday? He said "go for a ride in the car with you by myself." Isn't that sweet. So the grocery didn't make him change his mind, I guess the dance is over.

This afternoon we had church and the kids went with me. They love going and were so excited. They went to chapel, played puzzles, sang songs, and colored. After getting home Dad helped get the kids to bed. We are hopefully down for the night.

Caroline had to fix her hair before bed. She has seen me do this when I wash my face at night. Isn't that funny.

This is Nick dancing with his Chocolate chip cookies he got at the store today.

My kids are gorgeous. (In my opinion)

Yeah! We had snow this morning. The kids were so excited. We needed to go to the grocery and target, but the kids wanted to play. I finally got them in the car and we headed to target. The next thing I hear is "Mom the snow is melting". So we compromised and only went to target. It literally took longer to get both of them dressed/undressed then they were outside. There were a lot of snowballs thrown. Especially at me. They thought it was funny to get to throw something at Mommy. Caroline did a lot of standing around eating snow. Daddy taught her she could do that. Things were going great then Nick decided he would plow Caroline down and "I'm ready to go in right now" was all the neighborhood heard. Nick went out back and played longer. This is him getting ready to throw a snowball at me! He really enjoyed playing in the snow. After getting everyone out of their clothes and dried off, they played church and had a party under Caroline's bed. What a hoot!!!! All I know is they were being quiet, I went to check on them and they had yogurt and cheese under the bed. I can't get them to understand we can't take food into their rooms. Oh well, I'll keep trying.

After all that we still needed to do a little school today. So that consisted of a bath with new bathtub crayons (writing), playdoh (letters and creativity), and reading books (reading, math patterns, sequence, and letters). When John got home I headed off to church to work. Whew, it was a busy day.

Aren't you glad to see them doing a little school work? Nick is making a car road and Caroline was making letters. On the table is a G and a H. Such smart kids. Enjoy we will post tomorrow.

Tuesday, January 17, 2006

Today was kind of slow. We ran errands and boring stuff like that, in the rain. When we got home Caroline had a temp of 102. She still isn't feeling great, but thinks she will be fine tomorrow. I had bible study tonight and John kept the kids. When I got home they were looking out the window at the first snow of the season. They can't wait to play in the snow tomorrow. Caroline wants to make snow angels and nicks wants to make a snowman. I'm not sure we will get enough to do all that, but hopefully. I will post pictures of them in the snow tomorrow.

Hope everyone had a good day! Mel, thanks for the pep talk. Your the best.

Migraine Monday

Well, today wasn't very good. I got a migraine last night and still had it when I woke up this morning. The kids took very good care of me. I started feeling better this afternoon. It was about 55 degrees out today so Nick went out to ride his bike. He is getting faster and faster all the time. He has learned to stand and pedal at the same time. I can't believe it.

This is Caroline before she woke up this morning. She is such a little Mom...Introducing.. Caroline Baby! Granny bought her for Caroline for Christmas and for some reason she has latched onto her. You can't see it in the picture, but the other 6 babies she got for Christmas are lined up between the wall and the bed. With their heads sticking up. It is hillarious. We are heading out for a quick walk before it starts to rain.

Dd and Mel, I took a hot bath with the salts, did the warming facial on my face and feet, used the scrub, and the aromatherapy lotion on my feet. Oh my! I'm beautiful now. Thanks so much for sharing. I also did the lip peel last night before bed. Very nice. Hope you guys are safe. We miss you!

To everyone else we miss and love you too! Enjoy!

Can you believe UK, UL, New England and Indianapolis all lost??? Unbelievable.

Today was not a very exciting day at the Potts' house. We cleaned ALL day. Caroline was sleep walking the other night and crawled under our bed and came out one big DUST BUNNY! Very embarrassing. So I cleaned all day. I moved all our furniture and swept and mopped under it. What a job.

Nick decided he would help me instead of cleaning his own room. That didn't last long. So it was time for a haircut. He looks thrilled doesn't he?

The next thing I know he was dancing in his boxer briefs to "Goodbye Time". Which is Nick's favorite song. See the pictures below.

I had a blast taking pictures of him. He was dancing around so silly. She was standing in the hallway laughing so loud at him. John thinks this last picture looks like an underwear model. It was his favorite of all the pictures.

Our friend Doug came over today to watch football with us. Then Grandma and Grandpa came over tonight. The kids really enjoyed this. Well, time to get the kids to bed. Hopefully it will be a good night. Hope everyone had a good day!

Happy Saturday

Hope everyone is having a great day. It has been exciting around here. Aunt Mel called today from Idaho to talk to us for awhile....which was a wonderful suprise. She is doing great and having a great time with her family.

John and I got up this morning at 10:30 (before the kids) and I went to the bakery to get our favorite doughnuts. Not on the diet I know, but sometimes you just can't help yourself. After the kids got up and had breakfast, they headed downstairs to play with Dad and I went to Dee's (dd please don't be upset..only scrapbooking stuff today).

The event of the day besides the UK game and the NFL games was hanging a peg board in Caroline's room. We are not sure we like it yet, but we are letting it grow on us. John said it needed Aunt Mel's touch. So here are the pictures don't anyone laugh.

Caroline really likes it. We are not finished with it yet. We are going to hang a picture of her and Nick on it with some Pink ribbon in a white frame and some little buckets. Who knows what else.

John thinks Melanie needs to paint on it and personalize it and that maybe it needs to be framed. I just looked at him and said "can we wait until she gets back". I don't know if I can do it by myself. He trust Melanie's judgement more than mine, but of course I do too.

The kids were pretty grumpy today so they took a nap. I told them we would go to big lots and get a prize when they got up. Nick picked a blue motorcycle and Caroline got a fuzzy pink telephone. They are playing in her room right now.

Our friend Doug Jansen is visiting tonight and watching football with us. We look forward to hearing from all of you.
